The best credit card welcome bonuses of February 2026

If you haven't evaluated your credit card portfolio lately, now is a great time to do so.

That's because we regularly update this roundup to feature top welcome bonuses across cards that made the cut to be included in our best credit cards list. Earning new card bonuses is the fastest way to accumulate a stash of points and miles, so if you're working on building up your credit card reward currency, it's likely that one of the options below might be a good fit for you.

Since many issuers have restrictions on how often you can earn a bonus on a card, it's important to time your application for when there's a solid offer. Also, higher bonuses don't always stick around for long, so if you're considering one of these offers, you'll want to hop on it sooner rather than later.

If you're not ready to add a higher-end credit card, consider these great starter cards or even one with a 0% introductory annual percentage rate offer.

Lufthansa brings a business-class upgrade to its storied Airbus A380

A big upgrade is coming for a big airplane.

Lufthansa on Friday confirmed details surrounding its plan to replace the outdated business-class cabins on its double-decker Airbus A380 jets.

The retrofit will see the airline lose its current 2-2-2 configuration of business-class seats in favor of a 1-2-1 layout, bringing the fleet more in line with the current industry standard. The new seats will feature Bluetooth connectivity and flexible partitions.

There are two catches, though: Lufthansa won't install its flagship "Allegris" business-class cabins on the superjumbo jets. Instead, the Munich-based airline plans to use a preexisting product from seatmaker Thompson, with slight customizations. Additionally, in order to give each business class seat direct access to the aisles, Lufthansa will shrink the cabin from 78 seats to 68.

LUFTHANSA

Still, the new seats are likely to be a welcome improvement over the older product. They also come on top of a major reversal of fortunes for the palatial plane. While Lufthansa announced plans to retire the A380 during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, the airline returned it to service in the summer of 2023 amid a surge in pent-up travel demand as pandemic restrictions lifted.

While the return of the A380 was initially planned as a temporary measure while Lufthansa awaited certification and delivery of Boeing's next generation 777-9 jet, ongoing rolling delays in that program have meant an evident extension for the A380, of which Lufthansa currently flies eight.

"The retrofit underscores our commitment to providing a top flight experience on the long-haul aircraft that is so popular with our customers," Heiko Reitz, Lufthansa's Munich hub manager, said in a statement. "The new premium seats offer more privacy and significantly more comfort than before."

The A380 fleet is based in Munich.

Lufthansa A380 Return to Service Boston-3
DAVID SLOTNICK/THE POINTS GUY

The first retrofit will begin in early February, Lufthansa said, with the first completed jet expected to enter service in April. The entire retrofit program should be completed by mid-2027, the airline said.

Notably, the other cabins will keep their current seats, contrasting with the airline's fleet of Airbus A350-900s and Boeing 747-8s, which will see complete retrofits across all four cabins. In addition to the new 68 business class seats on the A380, the wide-body will continue to have eight first class seats, 52 seats in premium economy and 371 in coach.

Delta SkyMiles Platinum Amex review: Mid-tier benefits for Delta loyalists

Delta SkyMiles Platinum American Express Card overview

The Delta SkyMiles® Platinum American Express Card is a good choice for Delta loyalists who need a boost to reach their elite status goals. This card offers valuable perks, including an annual companion certificate, priority boarding and a free checked bag on Delta flights. Card rating*: ⭐⭐⭐½

*Card rating is based on the opinion of TPG's editors and is not influenced by the card issuer.

The Delta SkyMiles Platinum American Express Card is one of the best credit cards for Delta travelers.

It offers attractive perks for Delta loyalists in exchange for a $350 annual fee (see rates and fees), including an annual companion certificate and solid earning rates.

The Delta Platinum Amex is also a good fit if you're chasing Delta Medallion elite status, thanks to its earning structure for Medallion Qualification Dollars.

TPG recommends a good to excellent credit score for this card.

Let's examine the Delta Platinum Amex more closely to determine whether it's the right card for your wallet.

Delta Platinum Amex pros and cons

Pros Cons

First checked bag free

Companion certificate in economy class

Fast track to Medallion status by spending on the card

Doesn't make sense if you don't fly Delta frequently

SkyMiles aren't the most valuable airline currency

Delta Platinum Amex welcome offer

New Delta Platinum Amex cardmembers can earn up to 100,000 bonus miles if they meet two separate spending thresholds:

 • Earn 80,000 bonus miles after spending $4,000 in eligible purchases in the first six months of card membership
 • Plus, earn 20,000 bonus miles after spending an additional $2,000 (for a total of $6,000) in the first six months of card membership

This offer ends Apr. 1.

Based on TPG's January 2026 valuations of Delta miles at 1.25 cents each, this bonus is worth up to $1,250.

If you're able to meet both spending thresholds, this becomes the highest offer we've seen in this card's history, so now is a great time to apply.

Amex Delta Platinum card
THE POINTS GUY

However, you likely won't be eligible for this welcome offer if you have this card or have had it before. Amex may also consider the number of American Express cards you've opened and closed and other factors when deciding whether you're eligible to earn the welcome offer. Delta's cards are subject to American Express's family restrictions for earning welcome bonuses, so if you've had a higher-tier Delta Amex card in the past, you may not be eligible to earn the welcome bonus on the Delta Amex Platinum.

Luckily, Amex will notify you if you aren't eligible for a welcome offer, displaying a message soon after submitting your application. So, don't ignore any messages or warnings that appear after you hit submit.

Delta Platinum Amex benefits

The Delta Platinum Amex offers many perks for Delta flyers. Let's take a closer look at all of the card's perks and benefits. (Enrollment is required for select benefits.)

Elite status perks

Delta credit cards help cardmembers earn elite status with one metric: MQDs. Delta Platinum Amex cardmembers earn 1 MQD for every $20 spent, with no limit on how many MQDs can be earned through credit card spending.

They also receive an MQD boost of 2,500 MQDs at the start of each Medallion Qualification Year.

Annual companion certificate

The other primary benefit offered by the Delta Platinum Amex is an annual companion certificate. You'll receive this perk each year after your account renewal.

If you use this certificate for expensive flights, you can easily cover most (or all) of the card's annual fee.

ZACH GRIFF/THE POINTS GUY

The Delta companion certificate is valid for round-trip, main cabin domestic travel (booked in fare classes L, T, U, V or X). All you'll need to pay for the companion ticket is taxes and fees. Note that this excludes the carrier's basic economy tickets (which are booked into E fare class) and most higher-priced economy classes.

This certificate covers travel to all 50 U.S. states (including Hawaii and Alaska), Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean.

Other travel perks

The Delta Platinum Amex offers several credits you may find helpful, including:

 • Up to $10 monthly Resy statement credit (up to $120 per calendar year) on eligible U.S. Resy restaurants
 • Up to $10 monthly ride-hailing credit with select providers (up to $120 per calendar year) on U.S. ride-hailing purchases
 • Up to $150 Delta Stays statement credit every calendar year for eligible bookings
 • $120 statement credit for Global Entry every four years or up to $85 for TSA PreCheck every 4½ years

And cardholders also enjoy:

(Enrollment is required for select benefits.)

†Enrollment in the Hertz Gold Plus Rewards Program is required; terms apply.

Fortunately, Delta ties benefits such as the checked baggage allowance and priority boarding to your Delta SkyMiles account. So, you don't need to book flights with your Delta Platinum Amex to get access to these perks.

Additionally, cardmembers who are not SkyMiles Medallion Members are eligible to receive complimentary upgrades for Delta One (within the U.S.), first class and Delta Comfort+ after Medallion Members and Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card cardmembers.

Earning miles on the Delta Platinum Amex

You'll earn Delta SkyMiles when you make eligible purchases with the Delta Platinum Amex. In particular, you'll earn Delta miles with your card as follows:

 • 3 miles per dollar spent on purchases made directly with Delta and hotels worldwide
 • 2 miles per dollar on purchases made on dining at restaurants worldwide (including takeout and delivery in the U.S.) and at U.S. supermarkets
 • 1 mile per dollar on other eligible purchases
Person using their credit card for an online purchase
PAPARTIC/GETTY IMAGES

Since TPG's January 2026 valuations place Delta SkyMiles miles at 1.25 cents each, you'll get an effective return of 3.8% on purchases with Delta and at hotels, 2.5% on purchases on dining at restaurants and U.S. supermarkets, and 1.3% on other purchases.

Though a loyal Delta traveler may enjoy earning bonus SkyMiles on these purchases, none of these returns are close to the best you can do in these categories with other cards like the Chase Sapphire Reserve® (see rates and fees).

Redeeming miles on the Delta Platinum Amex

Delta's SkyMiles program doesn't have the best reputation among points and miles buffs. After all, Delta has devalued its miles many times over the years. And Delta doesn't publish an official award chart, meaning award costs can be very high. Despite that, there are still some great ways to get value from the Delta SkyMiles program.

For example, Delta has frequent flash sales. In the past, we've seen deals like domestic awards from 2,000 SkyMiles one-way, flights to Alaska for as little as 5,000 miles round-trip, transcontinental awards from 10,000 miles round-trip and flights to Europe from 16,000 miles round-trip.

ZACH GRIFF/THE POINTS GUY

Consider snagging some great sweet spots when using SkyMiles to fly Delta partner airlines. This includes awards on SkyTeam partners such as Air France and Korean Air, but the program also has some nonalliance partners.

Just note that some partner awards don't show on Delta's website, including awards on Air Tahiti Nui, Czech Airlines and Kenya Airways. As a result, you'll want to use ExpertFlyer (owned by TPG's parent company, Red Ventures) or another SkyTeam website like Flying Blue to find availability before calling to book awards on these partners.

TPG principal spokesperson Clint Henderson redeemed under 74,000 SkyMiles for a flight from Mexico City to Brisbane, Australia. With this redemption, Clint secured a lie-flat Delta One seat on the leg from Los Angeles to Brisbane.

Bottom line

The Delta SkyMiles Platinum American Express Card can be a great addition to your wallet if Delta is your preferred airline. Its annual fee may seem high compared to the lower annual fee Delta Gold Amex, but you get useful benefits in return, like the annual companion certificate that can provide significant value.

However, having the card may be hard to justify if you don't fly Delta often enough to maximize this card's benefits.

Remember that to maximize your overall travel earning strategy, you'll likely want to pair the Delta Platinum with another card that earns more points in bonus categories.

Equal best-ever offer: How good is the Delta Amex Reserve's 125,000-mile bonus?

The Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card has just announced a welcome bonus equal to the highest we've seen on the card. New applicants can earn 100,000 bonus miles after spending $6,000 on purchases in the first six months of card membership, plus 25,000 bonus miles after spending an additional $3,000 in the first six months of card membership — for an impressive total of 125,000 bonus SkyMiles. Offer ends April 1.

Though the Delta Amex Reserve has a sizable annual fee of $650 (see rates and fees), maximizing this card's lounge access perks, companion certificate, statement credits and other airport benefits could offset the fee.

While I'm not a regular Delta Air Lines flyer, this elevated Delta SkyMiles welcome offer on the Delta Reserve has me seriously reconsidering whether it's time to add this premium card to my wallet.

If you are a regular Delta flyer and don't have the card, it's time to take notice, as it can make your journey much more comfortable, especially if you've ever longed for airport lounge access.

With the card's increased welcome offer, TPG readers may be asking: How good is it?

Here's my take on why this offer is a great deal and why this card could work for you — even if Delta isn't necessarily your go-to airline.

How common is a 125,000‑mile welcome offer on the Delta Reserve?

This is only the second time that the Delta Reserve has offered 125,000 total bonus miles. It's equal to the highest-ever public welcome offer we've seen in the past four years.

The card last offered 125,000 miles in September 2025 (with a lower spending requirement), and before that, the highest offer was 100,000 miles. Outside of these brief elevated periods, the welcome offer has typically ranged between 60,000 and 95,000 miles.

In other words, this offer is as good as it has been over the past few years.

If you've been waiting for a sign to apply, this is it.

Who is eligible for the up to 125,000‑mile welcome offer on the Delta Reserve?

TPG recommends a good to excellent credit score to increase the likelihood of approval for this card.

American Express has a once-per-lifetime rule for welcome offers, so you can't earn a welcome offer on the Delta Reserve if you've received one on this card in the past.

If you currently hold or have held the Delta Reserve but haven't received a welcome offer yet (perhaps you opened it when there was no welcome offer), you could still be eligible for this offer.

If you've been approved for any American Express card within the last five days, you may need to wait before being approved for the Delta Reserve card, as Amex typically limits approvals to one credit card every five days and two credit cards every 90 days.

How much are 125,000 Delta SkyMiles worth?

Based on TPG's January 2026 valuations, Delta SkyMiles are worth 1.25 cents each. That means the full 125,000-mile welcome offer could be worth an impressive $1,562.50 in travel value.

While the SkyMiles program usually charges high redemption rates for premium cabins on long-haul Delta-operated flights, there is significant value in both short-haul Delta flights and partner-operated flights that don't touch the U.S.

Some of the best ways to use Delta miles include:

 • Taking advantage of Delta's frequent SkyMiles deals, which have previously offered domestic flights or flights to Mexico for as little as 5,000 miles one-way, making them a terrific deal for short hops
 • Using the TakeOff 15 benefit to save 15% on Delta-operated award flights when you have an eligible Delta credit card, such as the Delta Reserve
 • Booking business-class flights from Tokyo to Singapore on Vietnam Airlines for 40,000 SkyMiles one-way, which is an incredible value for premium cabin travel in Asia
 • Flying lie-flat business class from Dubai to Paris on Air France for 42,500 miles one-way

Even as someone who doesn't regularly fly Delta, these redemption opportunities make SkyMiles valuable in my book — especially with the up to 125,000-mile offer.

So, is the Delta Reserve's up to 125,000-mile offer one of the best deals ever?

If you're eligible, now is a great time to pick up the Delta Reserve, not just because 125,000 miles is equal to the highest offer we've seen for the card, but because the card's premium benefits can easily offset its $650 annual fee.

Beyond the huge welcome offer, here are the top reasons why you should consider the Delta Reserve card, whether or not you're a Delta loyalist:

 • Delta Sky Club access: As the primary cardholder, you'll receive 15 annual visits to Delta Sky Clubs when traveling on a same-day, Delta-marketed or Delta-operated flight, with unlimited annual visits after spending $75,000 in a calendar year. You also receive unlimited complimentary visits to American Express Centurion Lounges when flying Delta with a ticket purchased on a U.S.-issued American Express card. This benefit alone can save you hundreds per year, even if you only fly Delta occasionally, and make your travels far more comfortable.
 • Companion certificate: Receive a companion certificate each year after your account anniversary, valid for one round-trip companion ticket to destinations in the U.S. (including Hawaii and Alaska), Mexico, Central America or the Caribbean, in first class, Delta Comfort+ or the main cabin when you purchase one adult round-trip ticket (taxes and fees must be paid with the card).
 • Statement credits*: The card comes with up to $240 in annual Resy statement credits (up to $20 per month) for use at U.S. Resy restaurants; an up to $200 annual Delta Stays statement credit per calendar year for eligible stays; up to $120 in monthly ride-hailing statement credits (up to $10 per month) with eligible U.S. providers; and a $120 statement credit for Global Entry every four years or an up to $85 statement credit for TSA PreCheck every 4 1/2 years.
 • TakeOff 15 discount: Save 15% on Delta-operated award flights when you redeem SkyMiles and pay taxes and fees with the card.
 • Premium travel benefits: Enjoy a first checked bag free on Delta flights for you and up to eight companions traveling on the same reservation, plus Zone 5 priority boarding and 20% back as a statement credit on inflight purchases.

*Enrollment is required for select benefits.
